About the Surveying Guide

This guide has been produced as a final year project on a Civil Engineering Honours Degree. It's primary purpose is to demonstrate the application of computers to teaching. The choice of subject was arbitary - I have chosen surveying since it is a subject which is demonstratably practical, and lends itself to computer based presentation.

The information presented effectively covers the first year surveying content of a BTec, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering.

Note that the guide was written primarily for students at the University of Portsmouth, and so descriptions of instruments etc. will be those in use at the university.

A major part of the project requires general assesment of this site by its users. So whatever your opinions, please mail me.

Shaun Lewis, University of Portsmouth.
