The principle of  distance measuring with light

The principle for this measurement is called "phase comparison proceedings". The device sends out an  electromagnetic wave to the reflector. The wave is reflected by the reflector and send back to the device.The time that passes is measured indirectly as delta Lambda and used to ascertain the distance.
