Locating Objects by a Baseline
To locate an object by a baseline a baseline is laid through the object which is tyed into either a linear network or is connected to fixed points. In this baseline all points which can be surveyed are tyed into the baseline with the help of a right angle prism. Then the distances to the points (plumb bob toes) along the baseline are measured, taking the measures sequentially. Also, the distances of the points of the baseline are measured, the so-called offsets.
Advantages: Simple distance measuring instruments can be used. Masurement errors do not reproduce themselves, unavoidable measuring differences do not have a great effect. |
